Conductor Silvio Cortez

Initiated musical studies as a free course in Paços de Ferreira, and then attended the Music Academy of Paredes, where he finished the basic course. After that, goes to the Conservatory of Oporto, where he would conclude the complementary courses of musical Formation and Piano. Studie piano with Professors, like: Marco Oliveira, Theodora Howell and Angel Gonzalez. He have been on concert himself as a pianist, playing with several singers. He is a Bachelor in Musical Direction (Choir and Orchestra), a course concluded with a high mark, in the Conservatory Superior Of Gaia, where he had the chance to work with conductors like: Mário Mateus, Manuel Ivo Cruz and Gerald Kegelmann. He Studie chant with Fernanda Correia and participates in several seminars of body expression, oriented by Jane Davidson. Attended Master classes of Orchestra Direction with the Conductor Sergei Stadler, and worked as an assistant of the Conductor Manuel Ivo Cruz in the operas “ Magic Flute” – Mozart, and “ Amahl and the night visitors “ – Menotti. Presently, he is working on a Doctoral degree – Music) in the University of Aveiro. Between 2004 and 2017 he was the musical director of the Vocal Ensemble of Freamunde and the “eCOROmia” Choir of the Economy Faculty in the Oporto University between 2005 and 2010.

Since 2000, he has been conducting the choirs of the conservatory in Paredes and Lousada, where teaches also musicology. In 2017 he was invited to participate as judge in the 4th International Passion Music
Festival Szczecin – Poland.

He conducts the Coro Feminino CVS (Female Choir CVS) since its establishment in 2007 as well as the Vocal Art Ensemble (2018). Currently (2018) he also conducts the Coro Académico da Universidade do Minho (CAUM)

He has conducted these choirs in festivals and competitions in Spain, France, Italy, Denmark, Hungary, Greece, Norway and Switzerland, as well as concerts in mainland Portugal and in the islands.
